10 Must-Have Kitchen Items for Entertaining

Holiday dinners, parties and family gatherings are near. Which puts a lot of you square in the kitchen. Did your anxiety level just rise a bit?

Not to worry, the kitchen is my favorite room in the house. I love to cook and entertain (and eat too 😉), so I put together a list of my go-to kitchen essentials.

Whether you’re a newbie or an entertaining pro, these 10 must-have items will help kick off any event in your home. And if you’re shopping for someone who loves to entertain, take note!

1.)   Stasher Bags

These resuable bags can be thrown into the freezer, the oven or even a pot of boiling water. And then.. thrown into the dishwasher for easy cleanup, making them perfect for meal prep. Save yourself stress and cook ahead of time to ease your load come party day.

2.)   Food Processor

Whether you’re making sauces, dips or cutting veggies – a food processor is a game changer in saving you time in the kitchen. Get a dishwasher safe model and cleanup will be a breeze.

3.)   Bottle Opener

A bottle opener is an essential utensil. You probably already have one but if not, go get one asap. Buy a stylish opener so you can display it on the bar cart or a tray in the kitchen instead of digging through a drawer every time its needed.

4.)   Glassware

Most of us don’t have room for 10 different drink-specific types of glasses. Choose a set of stemless glasses. They work interchangeably for water, wine and cocktails. Added bonus… They’re less likely to spill than stemmed ware.

5.)   Wooden Boards

Wooden boards always earn their keep in the kitchen. From veggies, to bread, to charcuterie - a wooden board will make any spread look spectacular. When not in use, they double as beautiful décor pieces leaning on the countertop.

6.)   Serving Platters and Bowls

A few simple platters and bowls can handle most entertaining spreads. Keep it simple at first. Aim for one platter big enough for a party-size main dish and a large bowl or two. Pick a pretty pattern you love or stick with classic white which goes with everything.

7.)   Kitchen Towels

Have at least one attractive kitchen towel that can function all over the place – from the kitchen to the dining room. It can even serve as a cover for your bread basket.

8.)   Food Storage

Ceramic baking dishes can take your dishes straight from the oven to the table, and look great doing it. When the feast is over, slap a lid on the leftovers and throw them in the fridge.

9.)   Cloth Napkins

Napkins are an inexpensive way to elevate your table and make it look thoughtfully put together.  As an added benefit, they’re less wasteful than paper napkins and will hold up much better.

10.)  Bluetooth Speaker

What’s a party without tunes? A wireless speaker is a great way to transport music to any room in your house. Buy an attractive Bluetooth speaker and it will blend in seamlessly with your décor rather than looking like an eyesore.
